Reduce Your Cancer Risk With Screening and Prevention

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. The correlation between early detection and survival is significantly relevant. If detected early, the 5-year cancer mortality rate is only 11%, but if detected late, it increases to 79%.

Executive Medicine of Texas is dedicated to helping our patients not just detect cancer early, but prevent it altogether.

PROACTIVE CANCER MEASURES SAVE LIVES

Cancer is one of the most prevalent causes of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020 alone. Since cancer risks increase dramatically as we age, it’s important to ensure your regular health checkups include cancer screening and detection services.

Anywhere from 30-50% of cancers can be prevented by reducing risk factors and implementing existing evidence-based prevention strategies. Besides preventative measures, early detection and appropriate treatment can be crucial to survival, as many patients actually have a higher rate of cure if diagnosed and treated properly.

CANCER DETECTION

There are five recommended single-cancer screening tests that most people are aware of: mammogram, colonoscopy, pap smear, prostate exam with PSA testing, and CT Scan of the chest. While these screenings can be helpful, they do not catch all cancers. Over 70% of cancer deaths are caused by cancers that are not screened using one of these methods.

Now, a new blood test called the Galleri™ looks for the DNA of more than 50 types of cancer. This simple test could either detect cancer or give you the peace of mind you desire.

When using the Galleri™ blood test, along with the five recommended single-cancer screenings, cancers are 3X more likely to be detected early, giving you the best chance at survival.

CANCER PREVENTION

Cancer is not inevitable, even for those with a strong family history of it. The best way to increase your chances of surviving cancer is to prevent it from ever presenting itself.

We know that chronic inflammation can lead to cancer by damaging the DNA of cells. That’s why our preventative component focuses on reducing inflammation within the body and restoring it to a state of health.

This is done through a lifestyle assessment, nutritional consultation, micronutrient testing, and lab testing that looks at inflammatory markers.
