What is Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)?

Neuromuscular therapy is a specialized form of massage that focuses on restoring the natural balance between the nervous system and musculoskeletal system.

NMT actively seeks out the underlying causes of chronic pain by targeting trigger points and is often sought out for pain management and rehabilitation from injuries. NMT also helps provide relief for specific conditions like sciatica, TMJ disorders, nerve pain, postural issues, and repetitive strain injuries.

What is Deep Tissue Massage Therapy?

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic massage technique that focuses on releasing chronic muscle tension and stiffness in the deeper layers of muscle and fascia (connective tissue).

This massage technique uses slow, firm, and consistent pressure across a larger muscle group. This can help reduce pain, inflammation, and improve circulation. It’s also a great option for relieving and preventing adhesions (knots) while improving overall muscle function and flexibility.

Neuromuscular Therapy vs Deep Tissue Massage

While Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is similar to deep tissue massage, there are key differences between the two:

  • Neuromuscular therapy has a targeted clinical and therapeutic approach that focuses on addressing the root causes of pain and dysfunction.
  • Deep tissue massages are traditionally less specific, focusing on relaxation and relieving general muscle tension.
